Terence Trefiak will be making a presentation to the SLEA technical committee on subject of Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) technology, and the relative merits for LDAR as compared to Conventional Method 21.

The presentation will answer these questions:

  • Is the OGI approach actually as effective as the Conventional Method 21?
  • Why are most LDAR contractors not using the OGI approach?
  • What are the tangible benefits (cost, number and size of leaks detected, safety, etc.) of OGI vs Conventional Method 21?
  • What new and future regulations allow or require OGI?

Actual case study data from 2 large gas processing facilities will be used to compare survey results from both OGI and Conventional Method 21, and show specific examples (survey cost, duration, leak videos, etc.).
